They have a petting zoo, trees, horses to ride, pancake breakfast, ice cream social and it's all very close to the beautiful Grand Lake.

Very nice

Very nice and family friendly campground right at the Rocky Mtn Park entrance with lots to see and do. $50 an hour for horseback ride and $15 for a hayride but other things are free like: petting zoo, playground, etc. Our kids really enjoyed petting zoo and we also spotted a bull moose feeding right on the river behind the zoo. Very cool! A good place for the price and with the GS discount.

This was our first trip to RMNP and there cannot be a better home base than Winding River Resort. We were in a 44' motor home towing a suburban and had plenty of room in our site. We had full hook-ups. The people were friendly and helpful. We never felt crowded. Don't count on wifi, but why would you in this setting. They had several activities on site and the park started across the road from the entrance. The on site store had most anything you needed if you forgot something and the prices were reasonable. I really can't say enough about how enjoyable our stay was, and it was greatly attributable to Winding River Resort.

Beautiful clean location, great service, so many activities, lots of activities...not sure how they do all of this for such a fair price.

Really large site off the beaten path. We stayed in the section without sewer hook ups and that actually proved to be a good thing. The full hook ups were located on either end of the park. The fhus near the entrance had perfect shade but I suspect they fill up fast and are rarely available. The "grid" on the west side with fhu had no shade and was tightly packed. Our area was thinly occupied and had some shade. Each camp site had a huge amount of open room. No pool but well worth the visit. Ice cream social and horse rides for the kids. Will be coming back.

I can honestly say that I can’t think of one negative comment to describe this place. Everything was so well kept and highly professional. Everyone is friendly and helpful, and there is so much to do!!

Beautiful Colorado Experience

We stayed 4 nights in full hookup back-in site 3 with a 40 foot toy hauler near the camp store. Very spacious and level gravel site. Great western experience...creek too cold for swimming in August though haha. Didn't see any fish here but lots of fly fishing and nearby Grand Lake and Lake Granby available. Fantastic hiking all around the area obvioulsy. Moose, deer, elk all made appearances in or near campground. Great access to Winter Pass through rockies to Estes Park, a must do drive up to 12,500 feet elevation. Rained every day for periods of time...the mountains are a microclimate so be prepared for that. Did guided trail ride with horses offered at huge 200 acre campground for an hour for $50. Very nice staff. Tipped trail guides $20. There is a small petting zoo with mini horses, cows, chickens, goats, and pigs. They do a pancake breakfast on the weekends. Wonderful place. Room for all the biggest possible rigs, but the best sites are reserved a year out.

We did not plan ahead and tried to book a few weeks out which didn t work! Found a week close enough to our planned dates to make it work however.
Call the office if you have a larger rig. We booked online into a spot that supposedly would fit our 42 5er, but there was no way we were 1) getting into it 2) going to fit without hanging out into the road.
Staff were awesome and got us moved to a much larger site, and bonus was we didn t have any neighbors the entire time!
Easy access to RMNP (it s just outside the campground border), Grand Lake, Grandby and Winter Park.
Did the two hour horse ride with our kids and two other groups, and the guides were knowledgeable and patient with all participants.
Baby animal farm was fun for the kids to visit, and the trail horses are kept at the stable right on the property during the day, so you can pet them too.
