Nice, quite island retreat

Just returned from 8 days at St George Island campground. We loved it! Clean showers, shade at most sites, and very few people on beach.
Sites have water, electric, picnic table and fire ring. Ice and firewood available at host site near shower house. Campground gated at night with campers given password for after hours access. (Nice feature as it keeps all others off East end of Island) enterprise will drop off and pick up car rental to campground if you push them but phone signal very week at campground. Car rental is at Apalachicola airport.
If you're looking for laid back beach vacation, this is the place. No big crowds to deal with and no college kids ruining the beach fun.

It was not for us

We had 6 nights reserved and stayed less than 24 hours. Here is why: Mosquitoes out of control, only cell phone service available is Verizon and AT & T, I have T Mobile and no signal at all, so maybe I will switch carrier after that. The beach is about 700 yards from the camp and kayak launch is 2 miles away. 700 yards might not be a lot for younger people but when you are older with health issues and have to carry your beach gear, it's too much, unless you ride a bike or go by car or golf cart. Also, be aware, there is NO shade at all on the beach. The sand on the beach is very nice, water is murky, like everywhere else on the Gulf of Mexico and Park is very quiet and secluded.

Nice park
By user-6621325... on 2017-10-23.
Our spot was a little tight but private. (There are trees and bush between spots in most cases). The bathrooms and showers are nice and when we blew a fuse, we called and help arrived quickly. Bring bug spray, bugs were a huge problem for me but others didn't have as much trouble with them. Be sure to take the trail to the bay in the evening and watch the sunset. It was nice and if course, plan to spend lots of time in the ocean.

This was a great place to stop! Nice size spots separated by palmetto palms for just enough privacy. Quiet, nice, clean bathrooms and showers, and the park rangers were friendly, helpful, and very welcoming. Walk on the beach was breathtaking...just us and the crabs and birds!! 5 stars for sure!

We stayed in a Class A motorhome. Plenty of room. Our pad was level sand, gravel, and sea shell. The beach is beautiful. Shower house and bathrooms were clean. Stayed four nights and would come again.

My husband and I love it! We stayed 5 Days, hopped around to different parks and now we’re going back. This park has spacious private sites, clean bathrooms, friendly host and Park staff. There are trails for hiking and biking to beach. It’s a relaxing paradise. Bring spray for no see ums and skeeters.

Just checking it out
By user-unknown on 2019-08-09.
My wife and I don t have a travel trailer yet but we are looking at rv spots all over the southeast. We really like the park at St. George Island. We drove through the park and checked out all the accommodations especially the bath houses and the parking pads. After talking to several folks staying there really seemed to enjoy the park. We really enjoyed St George Island! Can t wait to get our Grand Design Imagine 2670MK!

Beautiful Florida Island

It s a nice place to come. Great ecosystem diversity. Lots of birds. Camp site was level with oyster shells, bathhouse fair(needs updates) but clean. Our fire pit was unusable and the picnic table rough, lot 43. Many lots have been upgraded. The staff and volunteers were nice. The beach is pristine with lots of shells. Great place to hike, bike, fish and boat. Bring gnat spray!!!! The town is close by with lot of activities and a small Piggly Wiggly store. Cell phone reception fair(Verizon) . TV by antenna not so good.
Bring gnat spray!!!! There is NO laundry.
The park is still undergoing renovations from the hurricane and the end of the island past the campground is closed on this date.
We will come again if in this area
