I'm a RV rookie and I'm thankful that I took it here for my first RV camping. A lot of priceless moment for me.

| Nice beach, but lacks amenities

Pros : beach! Cons : - no green...too much asphalt - no sewer or grey water drain - you need to pay an extra 20$ each time a guy comes to empty your tanks OR you need to drive somewhere (close though) to empty - no laundry - no wifi - no vehicle access after 8pm! So basically, you go for dinner in San Diego and can't come back to your place. Park attendant said folks just take Uber : wasn't happy about that - for 50$/night, i would have expected the above amenities at a minimum.

Terrific beachfront location. Be sure to check the map when making your reservation. We found the beachfront sites as superior to the inner rows. No showers.

The location is awesome, We rode kayaks in the marina, boogie boards, and surf fishing. As for the RV parking area: asphalt, no tables, just enough room for 30 ft class C with slide open on one side and awning on the other. Cramped quarters and really narrow drive ways. Unless you have one of the really nice premium parking spot next to the sand which are definitely worth the extra price IMHO, you wont be seeing the ocean from your site. Electrical at my site had 20, 30 and 50 amp receptacles for power and water. No wi-fi but that's just another reason to go out and play. They only allow pets in the paved area on 6 ft. leash. Dog poop all around the edges of the rv park from careless owners. It sure wood be nice if people could at least walk there dogs on the bay side trail. If you don't mind very close quarters nice place but a little too claustrophobic for my likings.

We just spent two weeks at Silver Strand. Things are generally well-kept, and the beach proximity is stunning. They have constructed a winter berm of sand to protect the campground (which is nothing more than an asphalt slab with water and electric hook-ups), and this impedes the view. Dogs are allowed only in the campground, but nowhere on the beach. But in 15-20 minutes, you can have your pooch at the Coronado off-leash dog beach, which is nice. I'm just not sure I like camping on asphalt.

| Worth the wait...

This has to be the best beach accomedation I've experienced yet. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The parking was directly on the beach about 15 feet from the sand. However, I had called the evening before our stay to reserve a space. It was already 8:40pm and the representative said I'd have to be there before 9pm. I was going to be traveling from the Mission Beach area in an RV and towing a mid size vehicle. After running through at least 5 yellow traffic lights (safely) I made it at exactly 9:03pm and the gate was already closed. Initially it kinda got on my nerves, but we found an excellent parking space down the road a bit near the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado Island. Only to wake up to the most incredible views I've ever laid eyes on (see the monument posted). Thus, for a fee of $25 the next day at the Silver Strand...I was one happy camper. If you're in the San Diego area, I'd encourage anyone to make this beach parking a choice for as many nights possible. Actually, wish the ratings scale was higher. This one deserves no less than a 10/10.

THE GATES ARE LOCKED AT 7 PM AND THERE IS LITERALLY NO IN OR OUT. Late arrivals are out of luck. If you walk out of the park it's a mile from the campground to the gate. You must fully self contained and no tent camping. . It is a parking lot with 50 amp service and water. Sites are extremely close. There is a large man made berm between you and the water. Satellite friendly, no WiFi or cable. Good over the air TV.

We are staying here 4 nights. Nice area. Its a parking lot they turned into an RV park. Parking lot lights are on all night and the military naval base is near. You can watch the Seals train. Helicopters are all over and the road is a bit noisy till after midnight. Electric and water stands are first class. 10.00 dump fee like most of these parks in Southern CA. Only 5 miles from the Mexican border. Beautiful sunsets on the ocean and a short trip to San Diego. Nice place.

If you want to camp on the beach this is for you. However there is a big sand Hill between the Campsite in the beach to protect the RVs. They do reservations and after 2 p.m. if you do not have a reservation they do first come first serve. Usually very windy there. Water and electrical hookups. No sewage but they do have a dump station for extra. Campground is basically one big parking lot. $50 to stay in a spot that is not on the beach in $65 to stay in a spot that is on the beach.

Very close to freeway. Traffic never stops. Too loud for us. Big sand berm between rv park and ocean. They did have full hook ups. Concrete lot. Park ranger staff very friendly. We left 2 days early because of traffic noise. We did get 2 nights refunded.

Location is cool if you like the beach. But its far from the city center and close to a rosd with alot of traffic all night long. 50

| Grossartiger Strand

Wir verbrachten hier 3 Nächte. Der Strand ist traumhaft schön. Der Platz ist nicht mit anderen Campingplätzen zu vergleichen. Man steht Camper an Camper auf einem grossen Parkplatz. Uns hat das aber nicht gestört und man hatte schnell neue Kontakte geknüpft. Der einzige Nachteil: es hat keine Duschen und für die Dumpstation werden 10$ verlangt.
