Been going there for years. Pretty good trout fishing. THE WIFI DOES NOT WORK. Even when sitting under the transmission tower. At any time of the day or night. They should remove the symbol for it. They do not take reservations and really busy in the summer.
First, the town of Decorah, Iowa is the Midwest at its finest. A medium sized "small town" with a lot to offer visitors. The Vesterheim Norwegian American museum is rated one of the top ten American heritage museums in the country. Well worth a visit even if you are not of Norwegian ancestry. Restaurants, shopping, eagles, clean air... be sure to visit Seed Savers and learn about their remarkable work The park is a short drive from town and has two sides separated by a trout stream. The sites are large, shaded and quiet. There may be some highway noise at the other side but Iowa highway noise is not big city noise. We will come back here, that's a definite.
Such a pleasant surprise .. Ultra clean grounds and toilet / shower facilities. Quiet and easily accessible from town. Tranquil setting. Pleasant staff. Inexpensive. Stay here before entering Minnesota as prices double.
Pulpit Rock Campground is family friendly and has paved bike routes from campground to town following the Upper Iowa River. The spring fed creek as well as the river run through the campgrounds for trout fishing and tubing down the river. Nestled into the bluffs and palisades along the Upper Iowa River, Winneshiek County offers diverse activities.
