Great campground
By user-5829973... on 2017-10-23.
Beautiful setting and not too far from the conveniences of town. The sites are wooded and a nice size. The bathhouses were some of the nicest we've seen - my kids loved the showers (enclosed individual stalls accessible from outside the bathhouse). The river and water park are pretty far from the campground. The bike trails are popular. Nice staff.

Great Park
By user-5828618... on 2017-10-23.
Huge State Park, includes two large lakes with lots of hiking and bike trails. Beautifully maintained, paved roads and large level sites. Easy access from I-95, roughly 20 miles from Richmond. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Staff (Rangers and volunteers) were friendly, helpful and courteous. Spent 3 nights in 28ft MH, will definately make an effort to return.

Very nice state park. Wide roads for big rig access. Water and electric only, there is a dump station although RV Parky app does not indicate so. Large pool and lake.

Excellent state park

Pocahontas state park has a fairly large campground that is RV friendly.
Nuts and bolts: 129 sites but a few are taken up by cabins and yurts. All sites have water and 15, 30 and 50A power. I did see some full hookups but they were camp host sites. The rangers said the most level sites are in the furthest loop from office (66 to 129). There are 2 dump stations. There are atleast 3 camp stores (a main one and 2 smaller throughout the campground) and several places to buy firewood with PayPal on the honor system. There are clean and functioning restrooms and private shower room throughout site. There are also laundry facilities that look clean.
My two cents: This is a very nice campground. Staff are very friendly and helpful, the entire campground seemed peaceful and quiet, and the individual sites, though not too far apart, are large and seem fairly secluded. You can see your neighbors though. The pool was closed while we stayed but I hear it is very nice when opened. There are 64 miles of trails and two lakes to explore but you can't swim in them.
My wife and I had a wonderful time here. It is on the return list for sure.

Quiet state park, watch water pressure, off level
By user-unknown on 2019-08-09.
Stayed 2018-10-20 to 2018-10-21
We stayed overnight on 10/20/18. Place was full that weekend. We had a non_specific site. There were only a couple left to pick from and ended up with a small site that was hard to back into in the dark. Book a reservation if staying Friday or Saturday. When hooking up water I checked pressure with a gauge and found it to be 80 psi so I used a pressure reducer. Some rv sites are really off level.
