I was very comfortable here. I leave off one star because the restrooms and showers are very outdated even though functional. It is across the street from a public park with a lagoon. Pay showers bring in local, non-campground folks but I didn't encounter any issues and do not begrudge them a place to shower and clean up. Other campers were no trouble. Small children's play structure centrally located. Close to beach to walk. Public transit stops less than a block away. Very convenient for those with motorhome who want to go shopping in Pismo or arroyo grande.
In an area with lots of traffic and noise and RV's in parking lot style campgrounds, this is a cut above the rest. Sites are roomy compared to others in the area, and many have shade. Only 24 sites, tucked off of the main streets next to a quiet park with an easy walk to the beach. There is an airstrip adjacent to the park which advertises biplane rides. During our mid-week, spring stay we only heard a plane about once per day, but I suppose it might be busier on weekends and summer. They do not take drive-ups-- you have to reserve through the other county park, Coastal Dunes, which is a parking lot sandwiched between a highway and train tracks.
There is an airstrip nextdoor. Not much trafic. Atv's and cars on the beach. But thats just America...
