We had a great time this week at the park. New owners Kevin and Gena were awesome. Super nice people who told us great places to visit while staying here. Park is immaculate and my son and I loved plaing some football on the nice grass center lawn with the football the park supplied. The creek is a great place to unwind with a beer or glass of wine after driving thw blue ridge pkway during the day. Many thanks, Birch Family
This is a beautiful park with new owners who are very nice. Perched along a picture perfect stream, you really can relax and enjoy the mountains. Close to the Blue Ridge but don't try to get there from that side with anything but a small short rig. The southern route is much safer. Very good facility with a few exceptions. No cell service from any carrier. Be sure to get a creek side spot if you are sensitive to road noise. My rigs bed is at the rear and the occasional loud biker will wake you up early in the AM. We moved to a creekside spot and the music from the creek allowed me to sleep in. Wifi is only useful if it connects to the internet! I was never able to get one page to load or download one email in 3 days. So the wifi is useless. I knew the cell service was absent but expected the wifi to work a little. It did not. If they get that fixed, I will return!
The Park is at about 1800' elevation in the Pisgah National Forest, nestled in a narrow valley surrounded by mountains on all sides. Beautiful Buck Creek flows through this valley and along two sides of the campground. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only about 3 miles away, but it's 5 miles by road. We are surrounded by gorgeous mountain scenery. You can take in many of the interesting attractions that are only a short drive away or you can just relax by the stream and listen to the cold clear water flowing over the rocky stream bed. And speaking of the stream, there's trout in that thar' water. Our location in the mountains also means that there is no cell phone service here but we do have free Wi-Fi and cable TV throughout the park. Our mountain location also means that there aren't many straight stretches of road in the area. The last 5 miles of NC 80 coming up to the campground from Marion is curvy (but not very steep). Don't let this discourage you, many of our campers come in 40' (some in 45') motor homes towing another vehicle without any problems. But please drive carefully.
