Beautiful landscape!
A perfect place for a weekend getaway!
We used this camprground this weekend as we were in Macon for a family wedding. It is in a lovely park with the campground set out on a pennisula into the lake near the boat ramps. The 4 or 5 lakefront sites are great and you can pull your boat right up to the site. About a third of the sites have sewer hooks ups, the rest just elecric and water and at $25 for a full hook up site it's a bargain. The downside is that the campground seems to have been constructed without a lot of thought. The pull thru sites appear to have been redone in the last 5 to 10 years (younger trees) with level concrete pads in the center--these would be the only sites that I would reccomend for larger motor homes The rest of the sites (other than water front) are macadem paved directly onto he existing hilly terrain. Many of these are so unlevel that there would be no way we could get our small class A anywhere near level and those with trailers in the better of these sites had their hitches way up on concrete blocks (or down to the ground) and blocks side to side to level them out.. Luckily we were assigned as site that was a bit flater but still required a fair bit of manuvering and numerous leveling blocks. They have installed fixed metal picnic tables on a pad for each site, nice but on many sites they are oddly located--ours was located behind the site, not to the side as one would expect. And as other reviews have said, the campground does not have a lot of privacy between sites, and on this busy weekend in October the sites that were occupied (all pull throughs and other level sites) seemed to have two or three vehicles per camping unit and we often felt like we were camping in a parking lot. We will try other campgrounds in the area before coming back here.
