For those who want to drop out! Very beautiful grounds in the jungle. No cellular signal and wifi .. Boat downhill. .. Walking path. .. Away from everything ... 20 min. .. (Translated from French)
Campground is remote and quiet, great place for hiking. Don't miss the Ranger swamp buggy tour, it's well worth the money. Make sure your tank is full and you have all your supplies topped off because it's a long drive to the stores. A beautiful area to view the night sky well shaded spots. It was a strange feeling to be on the Florida Prairie all alone but not to be missed.
It's very quiet. Each campsite is private w trees around. The trails are great. There are 4. A 1-1/2 mile, 3 mile, 6 &6.7 mile hikes. They show you the different ecosystems. We saw wildlife-momma/baby pig, eagle/nest, snake, otter& deer. There are a lot of spots that the pigs have rooted in so the paths can be bumpy. The observation tower is neat. It is way out in the boonies but that's its charm. We did hear a few airboats but nothing major. Jeff @ the general store was very helpful. We missed the cow camp since it's only on the weekends in the winter. A great stay
