Great local CG if you love nature
By user-2595010 on 2017-10-23.
I don't give it 5 stars just because it's not FHU, no store, and bathrooms are just ok. But the surroundings and sites at Crosswinds are fantastic. You're not right up on one another and quite a ways back from the road in some sites.

Great State Park

Not full hook up, but gorgeous campground. Warm showers, flat sites, plenty of shade. Bald eagle watching is a plus. Bring tick repellant!

Huge sites, beautiful view
By user-6449008... on 2017-10-23.
The sites are large and many of the sites have lake front views that are beautiful. Great 'beach' areas for swimming and huge shade trees. The more natural environment brings out lots of bugs so bring repellent! Overall, one of our favorite state parks.

Short staffed

Arrived at the park late. Talked to ranger. Said someone would bring paperwork to site next day. Didn't happen. Called park office. Same promises. Finally went to entrance. Nobody there. Talked to camp host. Attendants off on Monday and Tuesday. ??? Did Not see Ranger the whole time there. Have been here before. Nice camping area but not safe when understaffed.

Nice Sites. Beautiful lake.

Nice campground with deep, level campsites. Nice lake, close to Apex and Raleigh. Good cell and TV reception. Friendly staff. Crushed stone drives and camp area. Caution!! When reserving a site be sure you choose a single site. The camping fee doubles in duplex sites.
