A favorite park

Large, shady sites with level, concrete pads. Several of the sites on the water have large decks. Site 13, you can fish from the deck. No sewer sites, but the restrooms and showers are clean and in good order. Firewood is available for a donation. Food, gas, and fish bait is a short bike ride away. Only reason I did not give a 5 rating was due to no FHU.

Clean, peaceful park

We had site 19, right on the water. It was a great spot, concrete pad, picnic table, grill, fire pit, a post to hang a lantern, and a small wooden table near the grill. The sites are spacious and you don't feel crowded. There are lots of hardwoods for shade. The sunsets were gorgeous. There are squirrels everywhere. We even saw a deer swimming across the creek. The bathhouse was very clean and the camp hosts are so helpful and friendly. There is no sewer but there is a dump station. The water pressure was good and we had 50 amp service. Our site was a back in, but there are some pull through ones.

Great COE Campground

I’ve been to quite a few state, federal and private parks from Florida to Illinois. This is probably the best park I’ve ever been to for the price. $24 for regular spots and $26 for waterfront. Beautiful place on the Black Warrior River. Other than no sewer hookups, which is common at alot of State and Federal Campgrounds, excellent place..

Awesome fish & boating COE
By user-6465420... on 2019-08-09.
Stayed 2019-03-10 to 2019-03-17
This COE is very busy. There are kids everywhere having fun. Lots of folks come with there bass boats to use the boat ramp & there are tons of spots to drop a line & fish from shore. There are no propane or bait sales, so come prepared. The camp can be a bit noisy during the day, but not during quiet hours. I enjoyed my stay & will return when I can spend more time & go fishing.
If you need to have access to enter or leave out of the campgrounds between 2200 Hrs & 0600 Hrs, you better think again. They literally lock down the gates & there is no way around it (other than 911 calls, according to the camp hosts). It does tend to keep out people not camping or teens who just want to party on the shore at all hours.
It's a beautiful camp & at least 2 dozen of the back up sites are right on the river's edge w/docks &/or wooden decks built overhanging the water & right next to the rv pads. The pull thrus are in the center of the park away from the river but they are still nice sites. If I had known about the individual decks on the shore I would have reserved a back in site there, but I was lucky to get a nice pull thru on short notice.
Each site has a fire ring, a bbq grill, a wooden buther's block table (they call it a fish cleaning station, a picnic table & a pole to hang lanterns. There is electric & water at each site but I think only the hosts have there own sewage. There is a dump station & it is well maintained, as are the bathrooms & showers. There is also a small laundry with one washer & dryer, so timing can be tricky.

Tough place to get to, not worth the drive
By user-5729521... on 2019-08-09.
Needed a place along the way. Long ways to the town and then miles East to the CG. Cheap price considering you only get electric and water, no sewer. Have to use dump station when leaving. Water pressure was anemic and the CG was barely a third full. Glad to leave there.

Beautiful spot

Stayed 2019-07-31 to 2019-08-01
We stayed here for an overnight and thought it was beautiful. The bathhouse was clean and host was very nice. The only reason for the 4stars was because the campground is very dark at night and the playground could use some tending to. A simple power wash of the playground and i give 5 stars because we travel with our young kids.
