Jekyll Island Campground
By user-6207533... on 2017-10-23.
Nice campground at far north end of the island. CG itself is little tight to navigate and some sites are close together but it is well worth these inconveniences just to be on the island. Miles of bike/ walking trails, fishing pier where we saw lots of Dolphin, beautiful beaches (especially liked Driftwood Beach because it is so different), Sea Turtle rescue was very interesting and free....just lots to see and do. Most of the CG sites are wooded but free cable TV worked fine for us. Verizon signal was 3-4 bars and campground Wi-FI was OK. Campground personnel were friendly and helpful. Reservations are a must.

One if the best
By user-5883140... on 2017-10-23.
We have stayed in many places over this year and this is one of the best. It is cramped with little or no separation between sites. But the whole camp is under a canopy of live oak dripping with moss. Great WiFi clean hot showers, reasonable laundry and situated in the heart of the north end beaches. We certainly would come back here again!

Dog friendly beaches.

One mile to Driftwood beach and about three miles to Great Sand Dunes beach. Both are dog friendly and there is plenty of flat sand-packed beach for your dogs to run.
The pet walk areas in the CG are around the edge so you have to walk a little. Some ticks and mosquitoes be expected. Dog stations everywhere and grounds were clean.
Sure the sites are close, but not uncomfortably so. We still had plenty of room for awnings, rugs, and a roaring campfire. All amenities worked well.
We were in a pull-thru in "B" because they have a limited amount of big-rig sites and that was fine, but "F" seems to be the more desirable area because it is newer and has a little more spacious privacy.
Post office on island at Great Sand Dunes with limited hours. Gas / C store with competitive fuel prices (w/diesel) near the entrance. Camp store was well stocked. Bagged firewood can be delivered to your site / $8 bundle. Ice $2.50 bag.
Great destination for seasonal, group, reunion, holiday, etc.

Good spot
By user-5255587... on 2017-10-23.
40-42$ and late check-in available. Shady, yet some racoons at night. Two nice little beaches in walking distance. Would stay here again...

Our favorite
By user-5806406... on 2017-10-23.
Been camping for a year or so now and this is our favorite spot to date. Full hookups, friendly staff, wifi that's somewhat moderately reliable, and all within minutes of beautiful beaches, biking, historic district, etc.
Yes there are bugs, but nothing worse than typical for a Georgia summer. Just come prepared. Sites are a tad narrow so if you're arriving after dark have a lookout and be patient dodging trees while you back up. Otherwise nothing to complain about here!

We enjoyed a week long stay at this campground. Nothing bad to say. Shaded sites, bathhouses located perfect, good biking from camp. All gravel an dirt sites. Love Jekyll island!

Good Location

Jekyll Island is a Georgia State Park that is managed by a board appointed by the Governor. They charge a fee to get on the island, in our case $28 for for a week with a car and TT. The campground has sand/dirt roads and sites. Many pull through with full hook-ups and some with only 30 Amp and water. The shower houses were clean. About 1/2 mile walk to the beach, 3/4 mile to the fishing pier. The island is bike friendly and most areas can be accessed via bikes in 10 - 15 minutes. The island has a lot of history and many beautifully resorted "cottages" to see.

We enjoyed our visit. Beware of mosquitoes everywhere!! All the wonderful shade=more mosquitoes so that is the trade off. Driftwood beach was close and stunning.

Spent 3 nights here, rode bikes for 3 days, very nice place to stay, with plenty to see on the island. The water front on any side is worth hanging out. Even road bikes for miles on Driftwood beach.

Trees trees trees!!!
By user-5929598... on 2019-08-09.
We were amazed at all the oak trees! In the summer I bet this is ideal. Campground even had cable tv! Sites are just a bit small but manageable. And they recycle!!! They rent bicycles. Even have propane to fill your RV. Nice little store. You re led to your site. Great bike riding areas. We will most definitely come back.

Very nice campground. Beautiful live oak trees. Full hook-ups and pet friendly. It was crowded the weekend we stayed but it was so peaceful and quiet. The location is perfect. Close to everything. Beach is across the street accessible by a nice stroll, bike ride, or you can rent a Red Bug golf cart and take it all over the island. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back!

So...So
By user-5085746... on 2019-08-09.
Nice staff..good facilties...clean. The only thing i didn't like....it was very dark. The huge trees blocked out any sunlight. At night pitch black. It felt depressing.......No electrical lighting to see were your going at night.
They need to trim and cut down a few of those huge trees. Won't go back.

Pros: Well managed and maintained. Great staff. Clean and great setup at camp.
Cons: Cramped sites. Beach is farther away than expected.
Tips: Don t buy the wood. It is green and pine and unsuitable for cooking

Lots of gnats & biting flies
By user-5290616... on 2019-08-09.
Beautiful views, but my first visit caused my legs to swell for three days. The biting flies and gnats were horrible.
By user-6077573... on 2019-08-09.
Nice and friendly Campground. Really relaxing. We really enjoyed our time there. We had lots of shade at our sight. Lots of families riding bikes and walking dogs just like a true community.
