Beach!
By user-5808547... on 2017-10-23.
Was looking for the best best rv spot and found it. Walk straight onto the beach. Plus close to lots. Everyone was friendly and was nice place. Roads could use a few touchea, but otherwise was great. Kids really enjoyed the place. We even took a short walk to Schlitterbahn! Will come back for sure.

Perfect for Beach Lovers

There were some problems with the sewer line overflowing. Wifi is available for a fee but it's not good. Our site was much too small for our rig, but we made it work. The sand burs are thick in the sites. It seems like the staff is somewhat spread thin and not all informed with the same information. BUT the beach was well maintained and bay access was wonderful and we enjoyed every day. We will go back again.

The website describes this as being on the beach. Yes this is true if you are lucky enough to be on the first row however this campground is huge and if your site is farther back you will need to drive to the beach. Anyone going to the beach at isla Blanca has access to the bathrooms... So if your camper has a bathroom this isn't a problem. Lots of people who live here permanently.

Old Park With Friendly Travelers
By user-5869340... on 2017-10-23.
Yes the park is old and while it needs some work it provides a nice location next to the beach. Travelers with travel trailer should do well as they should not have a need to use site facilities. Site facilities are average and well kept with an issue that beach goers on weekends also use them - restrooms do not have combo lock codes. We have been going there for years, people are very friendly and local activities are great. Love to fish.

County Park needs attention
By user-5031310... on 2017-10-23.
While this park is in a good location the price is certainly too high at $35 per night with power and water. The amenities, showers and toilets were disgustingly shabby and smelly. The buildings should be knocked down. There were concrete pads but many were cracking and had large holes. There were tables with benches but these too were ready to be taken to the rubbish dump and replaced. The roads also were rough around the whole camp. Also it appeared that there were a number of permanent campers who were not keeping their sites tidy.

My site was nice and close to the ocean but this place has ant colonies surrounding the sites and within sites. Overpriced in my opinion for facilities and grounds that are not kept up to good standard. However it’s the best monthly price you’ll find for rv camping(that I found at least) near the beach.

That is what this park has going for it. We are just passing thru and stayed in the B-section just power and water. Grass sites close to the water with a bath and shower. It's is not the worst bathhouse we have seen but it is close. This section is actually outside the main park where the six hundred sites are filled with big rigs spending multiple weeks. There is a dump inside the park we can use, and Verizon has 3-4 bars. Also a restaurant Dirty Al's with good food for a fair price. But really for $43.00 ( using a CC) it's over priced. Last night we stayed at South Beach Motel for $35 and had a wonderful hot shower, clean bed TV and a full kitchenette. We are here because we needed water and a dump. And that's about what we got...

This is a county park ,they are in the process of updating the grounds. We have been here 4 times before & always love the beach we stay for at least a month the rate is less that way & we get a better chance of getting good weather .

Good & Bad
By user-6671346... on 2019-08-09.
Good: Location, location, location. Able to walk to the beach from campsite. Lots of fabulous restaurants on South Padre and in nearby Port Isabel. Nice bicycle riding. Lots of friendly Winter Texans staying in the park. Good signal for WIFI, cable is so/so. Monthly price for mid-Feb to mid-March was $750 plus electric at 11 cents per kilowatt. They do charge a convenience fee of 3% for using a credit card. They are definitely less expensive than the KOA which is right down the road.
Bad: 1. Roads coming into park have numerous potholes. 2. Sites are inconsistent in size, configuration and set up. At some sites the camper sits on grass, some on 2 lane concrete, some have full concrete slabs. Some sites have concrete patios, most are grass or dirt. 3. Several rest room facilities are closed for renovation. We did not use any restrooms. 4. They are building 2 new beach pavilions and boardwalks, construction has been noisy. 5. They take a $100 deposit for electric (on monthly sites) when you arrive. When you leave, they determine how much you owe for electric. If you're due a refund, they mail you a check and state it will arrive in 6 to 8 weeks! 6. There is no laundry facility. 7. The check in process is laborious and time consuming, they require each site to complete a 5 Park Space Agreement. 8. There are over 600 sites. It was quite challenging finding our site, especially since the site number had fallen off the power pole and was lying on the ground!

The beach
By user-5626444... on 2019-08-09.
Been staying here for hears. Private restrooms/showers with door codes. Major remodeling being done and looking fantastic.
Ant colonies everywhere but what you expect. Dolphins in the channel, fishing on the jetties sand and fun on the beach.
Small but very educational museum in port isabel along with the lighthouse.
Expect major delays on the bridge with holiday weekends so make sure your stocked up on food and supplies. This past memorial day was a crossing time of 4 hours.
Schlitterbahn Waterpark is within walking distance as well as boat tours.
Avoid SPI during spring break. It will be packed with drunken and disorderly students causing nothing but problems
