I disagree with the previous review! We found the CG to be clean & well cared for. There is a swimming pool on the Holtwood complex which is only at most 1 block across a grassy field. This CG is located on the Oconto River which is free to swim in.....and the river is shallow; not walkable across shallow but shallow enough for kids to play in with adult supervision. We were there during the same time frame as the previous camper who neglected to mention during that week the area received more than 6 inches of rain. Of course there will be standing water!!! Don't cross this CG off your list as there is much to see & do in the area! We will be back!!
This is a nice, well kept, clean campground. Most of the sites are seasonal, but no decks or porches. Most sites are grass, I had to use our wood blocks under the jacks, they were sinking down a lot. Showers and restrooms look like fema trailers, but we use our own. I was going to give this place a really good review, but the noise last night was awful. 3 trains, at 2am, 4, and 5:30, rumbling through town blowing their horns repeatedly! And I don't know where the highway noise was coming from, but it was deafening all night long.
First of all this camground does not have a pool. There is a city pool about 3/4 of a mile away that cost $4.50 per person to swim in. Next the camp sights are all either grass, mud or if you are lucky there are even a few that are flooded with stagnant water. Then there are the showers and bathrooms. We had better showers and bathrooms when I was deployed to Iraq in 2007. We will not be staying here ever again but its your hard earned money do with it what you want.
