This state park is only for camping. Sites are all paved with asphalt. Most all RV sites are Drive through. Area 1 & 2 are all full hookup (online reservation did not show area 2 had sewer). Area 3 no service. Area 4 electric and water. Areas 1,2 & 4 are grass and scattered trees. Area 3 is light woods. A few sites (70,71,86,94) have water view of bay. Sites are well kept with new utility connections. Many sites have a sloping pad, fewer are level. Showers are expensive at 25 cents per minute. Cool fact is they have their own wind turbine to generate their own electric. No air conditioning allowed and no alcohol. You must provide registration for all vehicles and rabies certificates for dogs. We stayed during two days of rain, the drainage was good with very little mud. Above average state facilities.

Stayed on site #163 it was nice and private. There was small pieces of trash scattered among the site and firepit was full. Doesn't seem to be checked and cleaned before the next campers check in. The gal at the desk wasn't very friendly. Bathrooms were "ok". You have to pay to take a shower which caught us by surprise. .75 for 3min each addt min .25. Lots of traffic noise from the road.

If you like walking straight up a hill when you come out of your rv then this is the site for you...when you make reservations on line it will probably be the only one available...there is not even room to put your rug out in front of the step...we travel in a 40' motor home and pulling in this site will require some talent...

This is the best place to camp.Ocean swimming, ferry boat to Block Island, Newport mansion, crabing, fishing, surfing the best chowder ,clam cakes and fish.Shopping and plenty more all within a few miles.

Have your current registration for all your vehicles , have current papers fo your pet's , do not run your a/c . , no alcohol whatsoever...

Stayed in site 172 area 4. Knew that area didn't have full hookups (no sewer), but surprised that the area would be so badly maintained compared to the rest of the park. Our site had standing water on the back 20', so rear stabilizers were in the mud. Site was level, gravel, dirt, grass. 30 amp, good water pressure. When you see areas #1 &2 you think your in a whole different campground. Beautiful paved sites, most of them pull-thru, with full hookups. Nicely kept grass and grounds. Need to watch out for some sites in area #2 pads are steep and saw some rigs with alot of wood cribbing to get rig level. Would definitely return because this place is in a great location, beaches, restaurants, Block Ferry, Newport. Just stay away from area #4.

| Lovely Park with a Variety of site types

We stayed 6 nights in Area 4 and loved it. Area 4 has more of a traditional state park feel, large sites with plant growth between sites that provides privacy. No sewer in this area so we had to move RV once to dump tanks. Sites have been cleared somewhat over the past year or so which made the sites more spacious, our site 155 was huge with with brush and trees on two sides and a large grassy area in the curve of the loop . Brand new bathhouse was spotless clean albeit with coin operated showers (.75 for 3 minutes) which had good hot water. We walked areas 1,2 and 3, As others have said, more of a resort feel in Area 1 & 2 and about half the sites in Area 2 would be impossible for us to level our 30 foot motor home while other sites there where fine. Beware of Area 2 if you have not seen the site you are interested in. At current prices this park is definitely a return to as the location is great for visiting the Narragansett and Newport area. There is a significant fee increase scheduled for June 14th 2019 (see pictures) which raises prices significantly for out of state residents which will certainly have us looking for other places to stay before we commit to come back.
