| One more thing...trains
You have to endure some train traffic near the campgrounds. A main rail thoroughfare is right across the river from the facility. Not bad for a train lover like me, but a westbound train horn startled my 1-year-old at 3am.
| Absolutely perfect!
You couldn't do much better for a family-owned secluded campground. All kinds of activities for your kids (not much for toddlers or infants), theme weekends (we were there for the wine tasting and "kid's carnival weekend 6/5-7/15). Very well groomed, level sites, in a valley surrounded by mountains. Mini golf, peddle carts, lazer tag, a great playground, river tubing and more. We left exhausted, quite happy, and looking at our calendar to figure out how soon we could get back.
| Great place for kids
The staff was friendly. With so much to do with the kids I don't know how they could keep up. Can't wait for our next trip there. Love the river too!!! We lost count of how many fish we saw.

Buttonwood Campground offers family camping at its finest in the beautiful Juniata River Valley of Central Pennsylvania. Our new Riverside section offers direct river access! Buttonwood Campground presents a full schedule of organized weekend activities throughout the season, with fun events for campers of all ages. For a true outdoor adventure, we also now offer primitive camping on the banks of the Juniata River, where you may still enjoy our many nearby amenities. Our equipment consists of Old Towne canoes, kayaks and adjustable personal flotation devices.
