Big Marine Park Reserve is located in the northern part of Washington County. The rolling hills and numerous wetlands in the park are part of the St. Croix ground moraine landscape type, one of 8 unique landscape types identified for protection in the Twin Cities area. Our facilities and activities include swimming, fishing, boat launch, picnic shelter, nature programs, hiking trails and multi-use winter trail. Eventually the park will contain 1,800 acres with 80% set aside for preservation and protection. The play area in our park is a favorite of children of all ages, featuring a towering 18 ft slide, a climbing rock and 20 ft climbing web. The beach is a 400 ft sandy beach with clean rest rooms, changing rooms and vending machines. A nearby grassy area provides picnic tables and grills and a reservable shelter. A 100 ft, wheelchair accessible fishing pier on Big Marine lake is available to fish for panfish, largemouth bass, northern pike and walleye. It is a great place to introduce fishing to children!
